(a) In Garrett County, before constructing on private property a building
that will need a septic tank disposal system, the person who proposes to construct the

building shall obtain a septic tank permit from the Garrett County Health
Department.
(b) An applicant for a septic tank permit under this section shall submit to
the Garrett County Health Department:
(1) An application on the form that the Garrett County Health
Department requires; and
(2) A plan for the septic tank system.
(c) Before issuing a septic tank permit, the Garrett County Health
Department may inspect the site of the proposed septic tank.
(d) If it approves the application, the Garrett County Health Department
shall issue a septic tank permit.
(e) A person may not build a septic tank in violation of this section.
(f) A person who violates subsection (e) of this section is guilty of a
misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a fine not exceeding $100.
