(a) On the recommendation of the county superintendent, a county board
may employ architects to assist in preparing plans and specifications for constructing
or remodeling a building.
(b) (1) The construction or remodeling of a building shall conform to all
applicable State and county building, electrical, fire, and plumbing regulations and
codes.
(2) A fee may not be charged for any permit required pursuant to the
required regulations or codes for construction or remodeling, but a fee may be charged
for water or sewer permits, or for connection and service charges for water and
sewerage.
(c) (1) (i) A building to be constructed or substantially remodeled
under this section shall be required to install approved carbon monoxide detectors in
areas of new and existing educational occupancies where fuel fired equipment is
present.
(ii) A signal from a carbon monoxide detector installed under
this subsection shall be automatically transmitted to an approved supervising station
or to a constantly attended on-site location.
(2) The carbon monoxide detectors required under this subsection
shall be installed in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association 720:
Standard for the Installation of Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detection and Warning
Equipment, 2009 Edition or as referenced in the State Fire Prevention Code.
