On written request to the Sheriff, a correctional officer may have expunged from any file the record of a formal complaint made against the correctional officer if: (1) the investigation or hearing resulted in a finding of nonsustained or unfounded; or (2) the correctional officer was exonerated and at least 3 years have passed since the final disposition by the Sheriff's Office or hearing board.
