(a) Except as otherwise provided in this title, an individual shall be licensed by the Board before the individual may practice engineering in the State. (b) This section does not apply to: (1) an individual who practices engineering while performing official duties as an officer or employee of the federal government; (2) a regular employee of a public utility company while providing engineering services to any facility of the company that the State or federal government regulates to safeguard life, health, and property; (3) an officer or employee of a corporation, while the officer or employee practices engineering under the conditions authorized under § 14-302 of this subtitle; (4) an employee or other subordinate of a professional engineer, while the subordinate practices engineering under the conditions authorized under § 14-303(a)(1) of this subtitle; or (5) an employee of an individual who is not a professional engineer but who, nevertheless, is authorized to practice engineering, while the employee practices engineering under the conditions authorized under § 14-303(a)(2) of this subtitle.
