(a) A license holder may not: (1) employ or allow an individual under the age of 18 years to sell or serve alcoholic beverages; or (2) except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, employ an individual under the age of 21 years to act as a bartender or to serve alcoholic beverages at a permanent full-service bar. (b) An individual at least 18 years old may act as a bartender or serve alcoholic beverages at a permanent full-service bar if the individual is the son or daughter of the owner of the licensed premises. (c) A license holder may employ: (1) an individual at least 18 years old to serve alcoholic beverages while acting as a server; or (2) an individual at least 16 years old to act as a bartender's assistant who: (i) may replace ice, remove trash, or perform similar tasks that do not involve alcoholic beverages; but (ii) may not engage in the distribution or sale of alcoholic beverages.
