(a) With the advice and consent of the Senate, the Governor shall appoint
an Executive Director of the Commission.
(b) The Executive Director serves at the pleasure of the Governor.
(c) The Executive Director shall:
(1) have the training and experience, including knowledge of the
Maryland alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis regulatory system, that is needed to direct
the work of the Commission; and
(2) devote full time to the duties of office and may not engage in
another profession or occupation.

(d) The Executive Director may be a sworn police officer with the powers
granted to an officer or employee of the Field Enforcement Division under § 1-313 of
this subtitle.
(e) The Executive Director is entitled to the salary provided in the State
budget.
