A dog may not be kept within the limits of the State, unless the dog has been licensed by its owner
or keeper in accordance with the laws of this State. [PL 1997, c. 690, §13 (AMD).]

Any law enforcement agency within the State, counties or municipalities owning dogs for law
enforcement purposes shall be required to license the dogs in the municipality in which they are
domiciled, but shall be exempt from any license or recording fee, provided that all other licensing
requirements are fulfilled. [PL 1987, c. 383, §3 (NEW).]
