A person that certifies a report under section 2232 as being complete and accurate and who knows that the report is either incomplete or inaccurate is subject to a civil penalty not to exceed $500, payable to the State. This penalty is recoverable in a civil action. [PL 1991, c. 676, §1 (NEW).]
