Temporary Assistance for Needy Families block grant; increased heating assistance

In fiscal year 2017-18 and annually thereafter, the Department of Health and Human Services shall
provide $3,000,000 in funds provided under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families block grant
to the Maine State Housing Authority to provide heating assistance for low-income families with
children. [PL 2017, c. 284, Pt. NNNNNNN, §12 (NEW).]
Funds provided under this section must be used to supplement funds available under the Low-
Income Home Energy Assistance Program administered by the federal Department of Health and
Human Services and must be made available to families with children at or below 170% of the federal
poverty level that qualify for that program under rules established by the Maine State Housing

The Maine State Housing Authority may retain what the department determines to be a reasonable
administrative fee from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families block grant for the cost of
