Office of Child Care and Head Start

1. Establishment. The Office of Child Care and Head Start is established within the Division of
Purchased and Support Services.

2. Powers and duties. The office has the following powers and duties:
A. Maintain an inventory of child care information; [PL 1993, c. 158, §2 (NEW).]
B. Provide public education on becoming better consumers of child care; [PL 1993, c. 158, §2

C. Provide staffing assistance to the council; [PL 1993, c. 158, §2 (NEW).]
D. Coordinate an ongoing review of all child care licensing rules; [PL 1993, c. 158, §2 (NEW).]

E. Provide technical assistance to public and private sector employers, school systems and
community groups concerning child care, flexible benefits and work schedules; [PL 1993, c. 158,
§2 (NEW).]
F. Coordinate the development of a training system for child care providers; [PL 1993, c. 158,
§2 (NEW).]
G. Develop incentives for employer involvement in child care; and [PL 1993, c. 158, §2 (NEW).]
H. Promote cooperative relationships between public health organizations and child care programs.
