Pasturage, food and shelter

Whoever pastures, feeds or shelters animals by virtue of a contract with or by consent of the owner
has a lien thereon for the amount due for such pasturing, feeding or sheltering, and for necessary
expenses incurred in the proper care of such animals and in payment of taxes assessed thereon, to secure
payment thereof with costs, to be enforced in the same manner as liens on goods in possession and
choses in action. The court rendering judgment for such lien shall include therein a pro rata amount for
such pasturage, feed and shelter provided by the lienor from the date of the commencement of
proceedings to the date of said judgment.
