No person shall publicly or openly mutilate, deface, defile, defy, trample upon, or by word or act cast contempt upon any such flag, standard, color, ensign or shield. [PL 1973, c. 262, §2 (AMD).] Any violation of this section shall be a Class E crime. [PL 1977, c. 696, §8 (RPR).]
