The Louisiana Geographic Information Systems Council shall have the following duties: (1) To advise the chief information officer, office of technology services, on the activities and duties of and provide oversight to the Louisiana Geographic Information Center (LAGIC), established to provide various GIS services to the state. (2) To make recommendations to the chief information officer on the establishment of GIS policies, procedures, and guidelines for the sharing of data and technology among federal, state, and local agencies. (3) To provide a forum for the coordination and cooperation of federal, state, and local GIS efforts. (4) To advise state agencies on the acquisition and implementation of GIS and related activities.
