A. Every person authorized to issue a hospital or medical expense policy, a hospital or medical service contract, an employee welfare benefit plan, a health and accident insurance policy, or any other insurance contract of this type in this state, including a group insurance plan, a self insurance plan, and the Louisiana State Employees Uniform Group Benefits Program, shall provide to the Louisiana Department of Health information on their insureds, either in the form of a printed list, a computer printout, or electronic or data processing tapes, pursuant to rules and regulations established by the secretary, so that the department can determine if any of the insureds are persons who have received services from the department and on whose behalf the department may be entitled to receive insurance benefits. This information shall be provided monthly and once received by the department shall be confidential information in the same manner as other confidential information of the department. B. The provisions of this Section shall not apply to any insured whose indemnity policy benefits pay less than twenty-five dollars a day in hospital or medical benefits.
