Predator Alert System; requirements; rules and regulations

A. The secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections shall institute a Predator Alert System. The system shall, at a minimum, provide the following services: (1) Send out the alert, through the state police, to local law enforcement officials when a sexual predator has been released from imprisonment. (2) Coordinate with and encourage the private sector to participate in secondary distribution programs that will enable the distribution of vital information on a predator that has been released from imprisonment, including the creation and distribution of flyers and e-mailing and text messaging the Predator Alerts. B. The secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections shall promulgate rules and regulations, in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act, to implement the provisions of this Section.
