Creation; purpose

A. The Southeast Louisiana Regional Criminalistics Laboratory Commission, hereafter referred to as the "commission", is hereby created for the purpose of establishing, maintaining, and operating the Southeast Louisiana Regional Criminalistics Laboratory, hereafter referred to as the "laboratory", in accordance with the provisions of this Chapter. The commission shall operate the laboratory to assist member parishes in the detection of crime and the examination and analysis of evidence as provided for in the rules and regulations of the commission. B. Each of the parishes of Ascension, Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, and Terrebonne shall be eligible to become a member of the commission upon a majority vote of the governing authority of that parish.
