Electronic signatures

A. Electronic signatures of health care providers may be permitted on hospital records. B. The Louisiana Department of Health shall develop guidelines to regulate the use of electronic signatures which may include limitations on which documents may be signed electronically, but any such limitation shall not prohibit the use of electronic signatures on discharge summaries and attestations. C. The department shall promulgate rules and regulations to implement the provisions of this Section in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act, all applicable rules and guidelines established by the Health Care Financing Authority, and all standards established by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
