For the purpose of this Part, the following terms shall have the following meanings unless the context clearly indicates otherwise: (1) "Department" means the Louisiana Department of Health. (2) "Health professional shortage areas" means areas so classified by the United States Public Health Services as areas with a shortage of health professionals. (3) "Primary health care practitioner" means a medical practitioner who provides a basic level of health care, including but not limited to a general practitioner, internist, obstetrician, gynecologist, and pediatrician, as well as a nonphysician provider such as a nurse and advanced nursing specialist. (4) "Secretary" means the secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health.
