The board shall have and exercise with respect to medical psychologists all powers and duties granted to it by R.S. 37:1261 et seq. relative to physicians. In addition, the board shall have the authority to: (1) Establish and publish standards of medical psychology practice in accordance with those developed and accepted by the profession. (2) Approve, deny, revoke, suspend, renew, and reinstate licensure or certification of duly qualified applicants. (3) Adopt, promulgate, revise, and enforce orders, rules, and regulations for initial licensure, renewal, and certificates of advanced practice as the board may deem necessary to ensure the competency of applicants, the protection of the public, and the proper administration of this Part in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act. (4) Conduct hearings on charges calling for the denial, suspension, revocation, or refusal to renew a license or certificate.
