NOTE: See note below regarding effectiveness. NOTE: Acts 2013, No. 384, §8, effective July 1, 2013 per §9(A) of the Act, provides that funds allocated for any purpose under the authority of the Office of Elderly Affairs or its successor, the Department of Elderly Affairs, are allocated only to the Office of Elderly Affairs or its successor and are not to be appropriated, allocated or transferred to any other state department, office or programs. There may be a deputy secretary of the department, who shall be appointed by the secretary with consent of the Senate and who shall serve at the pleasure of the secretary at a salary fixed by the secretary, which salary shall not exceed the amount approved for such position by the legislature while in session. The duties and functions of the deputy secretary shall be determined and assigned by the secretary. If appointed, he shall serve as acting secretary in the absence of the secretary.
