Thirty days' notice of the election shall be given in the official journal of the municipality or parish where the election is to be held, which notice shall include a reproduction of the proposition or a summary thereof. If the municipality or parish has no official journal then the notice shall be given in any newspaper published in the municipality or parish, and if there is no newspaper published in the parish then by posting at three conspicuous places within the municipality or parish. As far as practicable the elections shall be held in accordance with the general election law, and at the voting precincts established for holding elections. The form of ballot to be used in holding elections hereunder shall be substantially as follows: "Shall the (city, town, village or parish) of ______________ (sell or lease as the case may be) its (mention utility to be sold or leased) and grant franchise to operate same to __________ as per written proposal of date __________, on file in the office of the clerk of said (city, town, village or parish)?" Amended by Acts 1972, No. 111, §4. To vote in favor of the proposition the voter it he will make a cross mark (X) in the YES ____ will make a cross mark (X) in the square opposite the word "Yes," and to vote against NO ____ square opposite the word "No."
