Commercial motor vehicle drivers; employer responsibilities

A. For purposes of this Section and R.S. 32:414.4 "employee" means an operator of a commercial motor vehicle, including an independent contractor while in the course of operating a commercial motor vehicle, who is employed by an employer. B. For purposes of this Section and R.S. 32:414.4, "employer" means any person, including the United States, a state, or a political subdivision of a state, who owns or leases a commercial motor vehicle, or assigns employees to operate a commercial motor vehicle.
