A. At the first meeting of the commission, the members shall elect, from their membership, a chairman, vice-chairman, and such other officers as the commission may deem advisable. B. The commission, with the approval of the commissioner, shall appoint a director and an assistant director who shall be in the unclassified service of the state. The director and assistant director may perform any other duties and functions which he or the commission consider necessary or desirable to carry out the purposes of this Chapter.
