President of the Senate; salary; expenses

A. The salary of the president of the Senate shall be thirty-two thousand dollars per annum, such salary to be payable monthly on his own warrant and drawn on the general fund of the state. This salary shall be compensation to the president for service to the Senate, including that rendered during regular and extraordinary sessions of the legislature and during the interim between sessions. B. In addition to the days for which he is authorized a per diem as provided in R.S. 24:31 or for attendance at meetings of legislative and other committees or commissions during the interim between sessions, the president shall be paid the per diem authorized in R.S. 24:31 for each day spent in the state capitol in the conduct of the business of his office, upon filing of a voucher for each such day with the secretary of the Senate.
