Type-casting machines; exhaust fans and flues; penalties

All newspaper and printing concerns using three or more linotype or other type-casting machines, shall be required to install in the room or rooms in which the machines are operated, an exhaust fan or other device of sufficient capacity to keep pure air circulating and to expel the poisonous metal fumes arising from the machines. They shall be required to install vent pipes on each machine running from the metal pot to a flue or other aperture leading to the outside of the building. Whoever violates the provisions of this Section shall be fined not less than twenty-five dollars nor more than one hundred dollars, or imprisoned for not more than sixty days, or both. Every fifteen days during which the violation continues shall constitute a separate offense.
