Interpreter services for the deaf and hard of hearing; expenses; requirement

As a requirement for authorization to do business in this state pursuant to R.S. 22:244, all health maintenance organizations shall provide coverage for expenses incurred by any enrollee who is deaf or hard of hearing for services performed by a qualified interpreter/transliterator, other than a family member of the enrollee, when such services are used by the enrollee in connection with medical treatment or diagnostic consultations performed by a healthcare provider.
