A. A person may be nominated as a candidate in a party primary election only by persons who are affiliated with the same major political party, who are qualified to vote on the office he seeks, and who sign a nominating petition for him no more than one hundred twenty days before the qualifying period opens for candidates in the party primary election. The registrar of voters shall reject any signature on a nominating petition not in compliance with this Section. B. Except as provided in Subsection A of this Section, the provisions of R.S. 18:465 apply to the nominating petition of a party primary candidate.
