Sale or purchase of parts prohibited

A. Except as otherwise provided in Subsection B of this Section, a person that for valuable consideration, knowingly purchases or sells a part for transplantation or therapy, if removal of the part is intended to occur after the death of the person, shall upon conviction be subject to a fine not exceeding fifty thousand dollars or imprisonment not exceeding five years with or without hard labor, or both. B. A person may charge a reasonable amount for the removal, processing, preservation, quality control, storage, transportation, implantation, or disposal of a part. C-K. Repealed by Acts 2010, No. 937, §3, eff. July 1, 2010.
