§5701 Election; term of office; bond

A. In each parish, there shall be a coroner. Except for the parish of Orleans, he shall be elected at the gubernatorial election, shall serve for a term of four years, and shall take office and begin his term on the fourth Monday in March following election. He shall give bond and security according to law in the sum of two thousand dollars for the due performance of the duties of his office. B. There shall be one coroner for the parish of Orleans who shall be elected at the election for parochial and municipal officers in Orleans Parish, shall serve for a term of four years, and shall take office on the first Monday in May following election. He shall give bond and security according to law in the sum of twenty-five thousand dollars for the due performance of the duties of his office.
