A. The sheriff of any parish may operate and maintain an ambulance service, emergency rescue service, and emergency disaster service within the parish and for these purposes may expend any funds under his control. B. Notwithstanding anything herein contained to the contrary, the sheriff of St. Charles Parish and the sheriff of St. John the Baptist Parish may purchase ambulances and for this purpose may expend any funds under his control.
