Order of abatement

A. If it is established in an action under the provisions of this Subpart that maintenance of a nuisance exists and that the owner knew of its existence, an order of abatement may be entered as part of the judgment rendered in the case. The order of abatement shall direct the effectual closing of the premises for a period of five years, unless sooner released. However, for a nonconforming use of the premises, the order of abatement shall direct the effectual closing of the premises for at least six months and one day. B. Any person who in any manner uses premises he knows have been so directed to be closed shall be guilty of contempt of court and punished therefor as provided in R.S. 13:4714.
