Powers of judges, clerks, and court reporters

A. The judges of the Municipal and Traffic Court of New Orleans and their clerks and court reporters may administer oaths and the judges may compel witnesses to appear and testify. B. The court shall possess inherently all powers necessary for the exercise of its jurisdiction and the enforcement of its lawful orders including the authority to issue such writs and orders as may become necessary and the court has the power to punish for contempt, as provided in Code of Criminal Procedure Articles 20 through 25 as the same may from time to time be amended, which articles define contempt and prescribe the penalties therefor. C. Repealed by Acts 2023, No. 304, §2.
