A. A member hired on or before December 31, 2006, shall be eligible to retire and receive a disability benefit if he has at least five years of creditable service, is not eligible for normal retirement, and suffers disability. B. A member who is hired on or after January 1, 2007, shall be eligible to retire and receive a disability benefit if he has at least seven years of creditable service, is not eligible for normal retirement, and suffers a disability which renders him totally and permanently incapable of performing any gainful employment.
