Unification review commission -- Membership -- Chairperson -- Filling vacancies

(1) The county judge/executive and the mayor of the participating city with the greatest population shall jointly determine the size of the unification review commission which shall be composed of not less than twenty (20) nor more than forty (40) members. (2) The membership of the unification review commission shall be divided equally between the county and the participating cities. The mayor of each participating city shall, with the approval of the city legislative body, make a number of appointments based on the ratio that the percentage of the population residing in the mayor's city bears to the population of all participating cities. Each participating city shall have a minimum of one (1) representative on the unification review commission. The county judge/executive shall, with the approval of the fiscal court, appoint a number of members to the unification review commission equal to the number of city members. (3) The chairperson of the unification review commission shall be a citizen member elected by a majority vote of the membership of the unification review commission at its first meeting. (4) Any vacancy on the commission shall be filled in the same manner as orig inal appointments are made.
