Disability of adjutant -- Who to act

In the absence or inability of the adjutant general to perform his duties, he may designate, by special order, an officer to perform his duties temporarily, and if no officer is so designated, the senior officer on duty in the adjutant general's office sha ll perform the adjutant general's duties.
