(1) The board shall appoint the state veterinarian. (2) The state veterinarian shall be a licensed veterinarian who has practiced veterinary medicine for at least five (5) years prior to his or her appointment. (3) The state veterinarian shall serve for a term of four (4) years and until a successor has been appointed. (4) He or she shall be subject to removal from office by the board at any time for cause. (5) The office of the state veterinarian shall be in the Department of Agriculture.
