Registration without examination for certain persons -- Limitation -- Registration requirement for certain employment -- Probationary employment

(1) Persons on permanent status actively engaged in environmental health work for a recognized and approv ed public health agency in this state on July 1, 1993, shall, upon furnishing adequate proof thereof to the cabinet, be entitled to be registered as an environmental health specialist or sanitarian without examination. (2) A request for a registration without examination must be submitted to the cabinet by October 31, 1993. After July 1, 1993, only persons registered as an environmental health specialist or sanitarian, unless otherwise exempted, shall be employed by the cabinet or local health agencies to p erform environmental health specialist activities; the cabinet shall by administrative regulation provide for probationary employment not to exceed twelve (12) months for persons to qualify through examination when all other qualifications have been met.
