(1) As used in this section, "long -term care facility" has the same meaning as provided in KRS 216.510, except the term shall not include family-care homes. (2) Prior to a person's admission, a long-term care facility that does not have a sprinkler system in each resident room shall explain to the person, or the responsible party for the person, details about the facility's sprinkler system and which resident rooms in the facility are not equipped with a sprinkler. (3) Each long-term care facility that does not have a sprinkler system shall obtain, prior to a person's admission, a written form signed by the person or the responsible party for the person that acknowledges the person's or responsible party's awareness that the facility does not have a sprinkler system. The form shall not contain any statement that releases or purports to release the long -term care facility from any liability arising from the absence of a sprinkler system.
