Action by secretary against persons legally liable for support

(1) The secretary or his authorized representative may initiate any action under the laws of this state against a parent or other person legally liable for support who has failed to provide support for the person to whom an obligation of support is owed and who is receiving public assistance benefits under this chapter. (2) The secretary or his authorized representative may institute an action in Circuit Court against a parent or other person legally liable for support who has failed to provide support for the person to whom an obligation of support is owed, for reimbursement of payments made by the cabinet under this chapter for the benefit of the person to whom an obligation of support is owed. (3) This in no way limits the cabinet's authority to commence an a ction under the provisions of KRS Chapter 406 or 407.
