Timing of initial examination and report

Any person admitted to a hospital pursuant to the provisions of this chapter shall be initially examined by an authorized staff physician of the hospital or, with permission of the facility's governing body and in accordance with the applicable provisions of the facility's medical staff bylaws, policies, and procedures, a physician assistant as defined in KRS 311.550, or an advanced practice registered nurse licensed under KRS Chapter 314 as soon as practicable but not later than thirty -six (36) hours (excl uding weekends and holidays) and a report entered into the medical record not later than forty-eight (48) hours (excluding weekends and holidays) after his admission.
