(1) The legislative body of a local government may, by ordinance, allow the operation of street-legal special purpose vehicles, as defined in KRS 186. 077, on highways within the local government's jurisdictional boundaries. (2) A local government may adopt more stringent local ordinances governing street - legal special purpose vehicle safety equipment and operation than specified in KRS 186.077.
