Purpose and status of turnpike authority

The Turnpike Authority of Kentucky is created solely to perform essential governmental functions and to serve the public purposes of constructing, acquiring, financing and operating turnpike and other road projects for the use, safety, convenience and gene ral welfare of the traveling public. In accomplishing such public purposes, the Turnpike Authority of Kentucky shall be and constitute a de jure municipal corporation and political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
