Cooperation with other agencies, local officers -- Other states and federal government

(1) The commissioner shall cooperate and exchange information with any other department or agency of this Commonwealth, or with other police forces, both within and without this Commonwealth and with the federal government. The commissioner may, when authorized by the Governor, negotiate with the appropriate officials of other states in the preparation of interstate compacts for police protection as authorized by the Federal Congress, and such compacts as negotiated shall be submitted to the Governor and the General Assembly for approval. (2) All peace officers of the various political subdivisions of this Commonwealth shall cooperate with the department and the commi ssioner, and all officers thereof in the enforcement of the laws of this Commonwealth.
