(a) As used in this section, "wide-base single tires" means all tires having a section width, as specified by the manufacturer, of 14 inches or more. (b) The following shall apply where wide-base single tires are used in the operation of any vehicle or combination of vehicles: (1) The maximum load for a wide-base single tire on a steering axle shall not exceed 600 pounds per inch of tire section width. The maximum load for a wide-base single tire on any other axle shall not exceed 575 pounds per inch of tire section width. (2) No wide-base single tire shall exceed the load designated by the manufacturer; and (3) the maximum tire inflation pressures shall be as designated by the manufacturer. (c) The provisions of paragraph (1) of subsection (b) shall apply to all wide-based single tires purchased after July 1, 1993. (d) Any conviction or forfeiture of bail or bond for any violation of this section shall not be construed as a moving traffic violation for the purpose of K.S.A. 8-255, and amendments thereto.
