There is hereby created an advisory commission for children with special health care needs, which shall consist of five members and which shall be within the department of health and environment as a part thereof. Persons serving as members of the advisory commission for children with special health care needs immediately prior to the effective date of this act shall become members of the advisory commission for children with special health care needs and shall serve until the expiration of the terms for which they were appointed as members of the advisory commission for children with special health care needs. On the expiration of any member's term of office, the governor shall appoint a successor who shall serve for a term of four years, and until a successor has been appointed and qualified. Any vacancy on the advisory commission for children with special health care needs shall be filled by the governor for the unexpired term. Members of the advisory commission for children with special health care needs attending meetings of such commission, or attending a subcommittee meeting thereof authorized by such commission, shall be paid amounts provided in subsection (e) of K.S.A. 75-3223, and amendments thereto.
