(a) When a pupil has been referred to a school attendance review board under K.S.A. 72-3135, the board, for the purpose of making a proper disposition of the referral, may request the district court having jurisdiction to issue subpoenas requiring the attendance of the following: (1) The pupil; (2) the pupil's parents, guardians or other person having control of the pupil; (3) the school authority referring the pupil; and (4) any other person the school attendance review board may require as a witness in the matter. (b) The district court may issue subpoenas requiring the attendance of witnesses or the production of pertinent written materials, subject to K.S.A. 60-245 and amendments thereto. (c) The district court shall not have jurisdiction to order detention in any secure facility or other confinement for failure to comply with a subpoena issued pursuant to this section.
