(a) Each school district shall compile and report expenditures of the district in providing programs required by law and the number of pupils enrolled in such programs. Such information shall be compiled and reported in the manner required by the department. (b) The department shall verify, on an on-going basis, expenditures of school districts in providing programs required by law and the number of pupils enrolled in such programs. Such verification may be conducted on a sample-basis of school districts.
