(a) No person shall engage in the practice of professional counseling or represent that such person is a licensed professional counselor, licensed counselor or professional counselor without having first obtained a license as a professional counselor under the professional counselors licensure act. (b) On and after the effective date of this act, no person shall engage in the practice of professional counseling as a clinical professional counselor or represent that such person is a licensed clinical professional counselor without first having obtained a license as a clinical professional counselor under the professional counselors licensure act. (c) Violation of this section is a class B misdemeanor.
