(a) The board shall provide for the temporary licensure of any physician assistant who has made proper application for licensure, has the required qualifications for licensure, except for examination, and has paid the prescribed license fee. Such temporary license shall authorize the person so licensed to provide patient services within the limits of the temporary license. (b) A temporary license is valid: (1) For six months from the date of issuance; or (2) until the board makes a final determination on the applicant's request for licensure. The board may extend a temporary license, upon a majority vote of the members of the board, for a period not to exceed one year.
