Open in Lexace · Ask the AI about this section
(a) If the court determines that the information contained in the petition concerning parentage of the child may be incomplete or incorrect, the court shall determine whether the question has been previously adjudicated and whether service of process should be made on some additional person.
(b) If it appears that the issue of parentage needs to be adjudicated, the court shall stay child support proceedings, if any are pending in the case, with respect to that alleged parent and child relationship, until the dispute is resolved by agreement, by a separate action under the Kansas parentage act, K.S.A. 23-2201 et seq., and amendments thereto, or otherwise. Nothing in this subsection shall be construed to limit the power of the court to carry out the purposes of the code.
